


Sharjah is where a utility survey pays for itself fastest, because the industrial belt has been built, extended and re-serviced piecemeal since the 1970s and nobody holds a complete record of what is down there. We survey the dig area with the Proceq GS8000, mark buried services on the surface with estimated depths, and issue a survey report so the excavation crew works from a map rather than a hunch.
Industrial Areas 1 to 18 carry layer on layer of buried service runs added by successive occupiers — private power feeds, compressed air, process water, drainage and telecom, most of it installed in-plot and recorded by nobody. SEWA drawings cover SEWA assets. They do not cover what the previous tenant buried across the yard fifteen years ago, and that is usually what a machine hits.
This is the upside of working in Sharjah. The industrial belt, Al Sajaa and Muwaileh sit on dry sand and compacted fill, which is close to ideal for ground radar — low moisture, low salinity, clean returns. We routinely read towards the top of the 5–10 m range here, which is deeper than we can honestly promise on the coastal reclaimed ground further south.
Sharjah is a short mobilisation for us and we can normally attend the same day or the following morning. For contractors running work across the industrial areas we survey several plots in one visit rather than charging a separate callout for each.
