Underground Utility Survey & GPR Ground Scanning in Dubai
Before you excavate in Dubai, you need to know what is in the ground, and a DEWA cable is an expensive way to find out. We survey the dig area with a Proceq GS8000, paint the buried services on the ground with estimated depths, and issue a survey report within 24 hours so the crew digs to a map. Most Dubai sites are attended the same day or the next morning.
GPR Ground Scanning in Dubai
Congested corridors in the developed areas
Downtown, Business Bay and the Marina sit above crowded service corridors: DEWA power and water, district cooling, du and Etisalat telecom ducts, sewer and irrigation, layered into a narrow strip of ground. Each owner's drawings show its own assets, and they rarely line up with each other or with the ground. A survey across the whole corridor shows what is actually there before a machine arrives.
NOCs tell you what the owners know. The survey tells you what is there.
Digging in Dubai normally involves collecting no-objection certificates from the service owners whose assets could be affected, and those owners supply record drawings as part of the process. That paperwork is essential, but the drawings show what was recorded at installation, not diversions, abandoned lines or private services laid later. Our survey sits alongside the NOCs and the record drawings. It does not replace any approval; it checks the drawings against what is actually in the ground.
Villa communities and industrial plots
Landscaped villa communities carry dense plastic irrigation networks that a cable locator cannot see, and radar can. Industrial plots in Al Quoz, Dubai Investments Park and Jebel Ali have usually had several occupiers, each laying private power feeds, water and drainage across the yard without telling anyone. Those unrecorded in-plot services are the ones most often struck.
Where in Dubai, and how fast
We survey across the emirate, from Deira and Bur Dubai to Al Quoz, DIP, Jebel Ali and Dubai South. Most sites are attended the same day or the next morning, subject to access. Road and trafficked areas often have to be surveyed at night; we plan around the traffic arrangements your site has in place.

Ground conditions in Dubai
Ground conditions vary sharply across the emirate. Inland sites in Al Quoz and Dubai Investments Park are dry sand and read well, often to the full 10 m. Coastal and reclaimed ground around the Marina and Palm sits on saline fill where signal attenuates quickly, and we will tell you on site if the depth you need is not achievable.
What you get in Dubai
What you receive
- Buried services painted on the ground with estimated depths
- PDF survey report within 24 hours with the mapped findings
- Marked-up drawing over your site plan for larger areas
- A stated depth limit wherever the ground stopped the radar
What the Proceq GS8000 cannot tell you
- Saline, wet or sabkha ground can cut usable depth below 5 m.
- Radar shows an object and its depth, not what the service is.
- Buried slabs and hard layers can hide what sits beneath them.
- Very congested service corridors are hard to separate line by line.
Where one of these limits affects your job, the report says so in writing.

GPR Ground Scanning in Dubai: common questions
How deep can you scan under a Dubai site?
Typically 5 to 10 m, and the ground decides which end. Dry inland sand in Al Quoz or Dubai Investments Park can read towards the full 10 m. Reclaimed coastal ground with saline moisture, around the Marina and the Palm, can pull it below 5 m. Most services an excavator meets are in the top 2 to 3 m. We tell you the realistic depth for your ground on site.
Does the survey replace the NOCs from DEWA, du or Etisalat?
No. NOCs and record drawings come from the service owners and stay part of your approval process. The survey checks those drawings against what is physically in the ground, including services nobody recorded, and gives you a written report to add to the file.
What do we receive at the end of the survey?
Services painted on the ground with estimated depths where the crew will see them, and a PDF survey report within 24 hours. For larger sites we provide a marked-up drawing over your site plan. Any area where the ground limited the reading is shown as such, not left blank.
Is this the same as your concrete scanning service?
No. Different instrument, different job. The GS8000 surveys the ground for buried services before excavation. The GP8000 scans inside concrete for rebar and post-tension tendons before cutting. We own both.
How quickly can you attend in Dubai?
Most Dubai sites are attended the same day or the next morning, subject to access. We reply to WhatsApp requests within 1 hour during working hours, Sunday to Thursday 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 9 AM to 3 PM.

A trial pit tells you exactly what is at one spot. Radar tells you roughly what is everywhere. The question is not which one, but in what order.

Survey pricing follows area, grid density, access and deliverable — not a flat rate per site. What moves the number, and what a suspiciously low quote is missing.

A cable locator cannot see a plastic water pipe. Radar cannot label what it finds. The two instruments answer different questions and are strongest together.
