Can you locate buried pipelines?
Yes. Steel pipelines give a strong radar return, and we locate them along with the cables, ducts and tanks in the same survey. What a radar survey gives you that a drawing does not is the actual position on the day, which is what matters when the excavation is metres from a live line.
Can you find plastic pipes and non-metallic services?
Yes, and this is where ground radar earns its place over electromagnetic locators. An EML needs a conductive target or a traceable signal, so plastic water and irrigation lines are invisible to it. Radar responds to the contrast between the object and the surrounding ground, so it picks up plastic pipes, voids and tanks as well as metal.
What do we receive at the end?
Services are painted onto the ground surface with estimated depths where the excavation crew will actually see them, plus a survey report with the mapped findings.
