GPR does not need a radiation source, an exclusion zone or a hot work permit, so we can scan inside an operating terminal while the facility keeps working. We locate reinforcement, conduits and voids with the Proceq GP8000, mark the safe zones and issue a report before any coring or anchoring starts.
Inside a bunkering facility or a tank farm, getting approval to bring a radiation source on site is difficult and often simply refused. GPR sidesteps the problem: it emits low-power electromagnetic pulses, needs access to one face only, and creates no exclusion zone. Concrete on the east coast sits in a humid, chloride-rich environment, and cover depth is what stands between the reinforcement and corrosion. Alongside locating bars before a cut, we can record cover depth across a survey area, which matters when you are assessing an existing structure rather than just planning a penetration.
