A large share of RAK concrete is plant structure — machine foundations, crusher bases, conveyor supports, tank plinths and heavily reinforced ground slabs. These carry dense top reinforcement and decades of undocumented modification, because plants get extended in stages and the drawing set almost never keeps up. Anchoring into a machine base without scanning is how a bolt ends up through a bar it was never meant to touch.
Resort construction on Al Marjan and Al Hamra
The hotel and leisure build-out on the coast uses post-tensioned floor plates, and the MEP fit-out that follows needs a large number of penetrations through them. On these projects we scan every penetration rather than sampling, and mark out drill positions ahead of the coring crew so the two trades are not waiting on each other.

- Very congested reinforcement can hide objects directly beneath it.
- Objects stacked right on top of each other are hard to separate.
- Radar does not pass through steel decking or metal sheet.
- It shows that a conduit is there, not whether it is live.
- Fresh or wet concrete reduces depth and clarity.

GPR Concrete Scanning in Ras Al Khaimah: common questions
Can you scan heavily reinforced industrial slabs?
Yes, and this is most of what we do in RAK. The GP8000 resolves multiple reinforcement layers, so a dense top mat does not stop us finding what sits under it. Where reinforcement is exceptionally congested the clarity of deeper targets does drop, and we will say so on site rather than issue a report that reads more confident than the data.
Can you scan a machine foundation before anchor drilling?
Yes. Machine bases and equipment plinths are a common scan for us — we locate the reinforcement cage and any cast-in conduits, then mark the clear zones for the anchor pattern. Where the intended pattern conflicts with the cage we mark the conflict so the layout can be shifted before drilling rather than after.
Do you travel to Ras Al Khaimah for a single scan?
Yes. Single-visit jobs in RAK are normal for us and priced accordingly. If you have several penetrations or several buildings, grouping them into one visit is materially cheaper than separate mobilisations, so it is worth telling us the full scope when you enquire.
