GPR fits that setting because it is non-destructive and needs no exclusion zone, so we can scan a corridor slab with the department next door still working. We mark safe zones on the surface and issue a report before the coring crew starts.
Refurbishment in a working hospital, school or university building is a scheduling problem as much as a technical one. GPR needs access to one face, produces no dust, no noise and no radiation, and leaves nothing behind, so scanning can happen in a live building and often during normal hours.
